The ESF Science Corps Tutoring Program (ESF SCTP) is comprised of ESF students who serve as inspiring role models and academic tutors in the areas of math, science, reading, and writing for Syracuse City School District Kindergarten through 5th grade students. The SCTP was established in the spring of 2009 and integrated into the ESF Science Corps by ESF Outreach in 2015. Since 2009 the program has engaged hundreds of youth at several Syracuse schools thanks to the hard work and dedication of our outstanding tutors and school partners.
Students working as ESF SCTP tutors are employed through the Federal Work Study program and are provided with support and training opportunities through ESF Outreach. ESF Science Corps Tutors accompany teachers in classrooms where they spend 6 to 8 hours per week, throughout the academic year, working with students one-on-one or in small groups at Dr. King Elementary School.
